"Take the required portion of BARFmenu KVV out of the freezer one to two days in advance and place it in the refrigerator to thaw slowly. This method takes longer, but ensures even and safe thawing without unnecessary risk of bacterial growth. Make sure you always have a supply of thawed BARFmenu KVV in the refrigerator for your dog’s upcoming meals.
If faster thawing is required, place the packaged BARFmenu KVV in a sealable plastic bag and submerge it in cold water. Replace the water every 30 minutes to keep the temperature low and ensure that the meat thaws evenly.
In both cases, check that the meat is completely thawed before giving it to your dog or cat."
After production, the sausages can be stored in the freezer for 2 years. Once the product has thawed, the sausage can be kept in the refrigerator for another 2 to 3 days.
No. For safe and hygienic handling of BARFmenu KVV, it must not be refrozen after thawing. BARFmenu should be handled in the same way as meat intended for your own consumption.
"For puppies up to 8 months old, approximately 50 grams per kilogram of body weight applies.
For kittens up to 8 months old, approximately 70 grams per kilogram of body weight applies.
For dogs older than 8 months, we recommend approximately 25 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, based on the target weight according to the breed standard.
For cats older than 8 months, we recommend approximately 35 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, based on the target weight according to the breed standard.

Grains and rice mainly contain carbohydrates. Instead of cooking or heating the ingredients — as is often done — BARFmenu takes a different approach: we cold-press our kibble. This means the ingredients are compressed under high pressure without heating. This helps preserve the natural nutrients and enzymes in the ingredients, benefiting the nutritional value of the finished product.
We recommend alternating flavours. This helps prevent intolerances and keeps meals interesting for your pets.
"Store the cold-pressed kibble in a cool, dry place, preferably in a sealed container or bag. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and keep the product away from heat sources such as radiators and kitchen appliances. Seal the packaging after each use to prevent air, moisture or insects from entering. If the original packaging does not seal properly, consider transferring the cold-pressed kibble to a sealable storage container.
Do not buy products if the packaging is damaged or if the best-before date is close to expiring.

Tartar in dogs and cats can be a serious problem that may lead to gum inflammation, infections and even tooth loss. Fortunately, this occurs rarely or not at all in dogs and cats that are fed KVV, whereas many dogs and cats that eat kibble experience these problems. In the case of tartar, we recommend offering your dog or cat a suitable bone or hard chew every 2 to 3 days so that the teeth can be cleaned naturally.

People often assume that the dog or cat has stomach pain and eats grass to induce vomiting. Fortunately, this is usually not the case; it is often related to the moisture in the grass. Our tap water is clean, but for example contains lime. As a result, dogs and cats sometimes prefer rainwater or eat grass.
"Our (frozen) parcels are shipped through what is known as a cold chain: they never leave the frozen state. From our freezer facility to your front door, the products remain continuously frozen.
