Feeding your dog KVV offers several benefits. Some important reasons to consider feeding your dog or cat KVV are: natural nutrition, improved skin and coat, better dental health, improved digestion, more energy and vitality, and less and firmer stool. In short: nutrition as nature intended.
BARFmenu is suitable for every breed, regardless of weight, age or size.
Vitamins and minerals have been added to the Basic range to make it a complete food. No vitamins or minerals are added to the Premium range; it becomes complete when you alternate 4 to 5 flavours over a period of 2 to 3 weeks. In addition, our Premium range contains no beef or chicken products, which can be useful for pets with an allergy.
A shiny coat, white teeth, less and firmer stool, fewer anal gland problems, more vitality, less plaque, less of the “typical dog/cat smell”, and more enjoyment at mealtimes — in other words, an overall improvement in health!
BARFmenu contains the following ingredients: meat, organs, bone, and added vitamins and minerals (premix). Our Premium range contains no added vitamins and minerals and therefore no premix.
"If your dog or cat already eats KVV, you can switch immediately. If your dog or cat currently eats kibble, it is sensible to introduce KVV gradually as follows:
Day 1: 20% KVV, 80% kibble; day 2: 40% KVV, 60% kibble, and so on. Continue until you reach 100% KVV.
The transition is not always easy. If, for whatever reason, it does not go smoothly, we recommend contacting our customer service team so we can review the situation with you and advise you on the best approach."
"You can take BARFmenu out of the freezer one day in advance and allow it to thaw in the refrigerator. Once the product has thawed, portion the sausage and place one portion in your dog’s or cat’s food bowl. The remainder can safely be stored for another 2 to 3 days in a sealed container in the refrigerator. After feeding, clean the bowl thoroughly and wash your hands well.
Would you like to know more about handling our products hygienically? Visit https://www.feed-raw-right.eu/en/ for more information."
Frozen in the freezer or thawed in the refrigerator (BARFmenu KVV can be kept in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days).
"Take the required portion of BARFmenu KVV out of the freezer one to two days in advance and place it in the refrigerator to thaw slowly. This method takes longer, but ensures even and safe thawing without unnecessary risk of bacterial growth. Make sure you always have a supply of thawed BARFmenu KVV in the refrigerator for your dog’s upcoming meals.
If faster thawing is required, place the packaged BARFmenu KVV in a sealable plastic bag and submerge it in cold water. Replace the water every 30 minutes to keep the temperature low and ensure that the meat thaws evenly.
In both cases, check that the meat is completely thawed before giving it to your dog or cat."
After production, the sausages can be stored in the freezer for 2 years. Once the product has thawed, the sausage can be kept in the refrigerator for another 2 to 3 days.
No. For safe and hygienic handling of BARFmenu KVV, it must not be refrozen after thawing. BARFmenu should be handled in the same way as meat intended for your own consumption.
"For puppies up to 8 months old, approximately 50 grams per kilogram of body weight applies.
For kittens up to 8 months old, approximately 70 grams per kilogram of body weight applies.
For dogs older than 8 months, we recommend approximately 25 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, based on the target weight according to the breed standard.
For cats older than 8 months, we recommend approximately 35 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, based on the target weight according to the breed standard.
Please note: these are guidelines! If you have a very energetic dog or cat, you can feed a little more. If your pet is rather lazy, you can of course feed a little less."
If you want optimal health for your pet and nutrition that is truly designed for dogs or cats, we recommend feeding KVV every day. Of course, there may be various reasons why this is not possible. In that case, we recommend a combination of KVV and cold-pressed kibble.
We understand that dividing larger portions into smaller portions can be difficult. That is why we offer different pack sizes of 250 grams, 500 grams and 1000 grams. If you have any questions about this, our customer service team will be happy to help.
"It is important to alternate different BARFmenu KVV flavours in your dog’s or cat’s diet. Varying flavours is not only good for your dog’s or cat’s health, it also keeps meals interesting and tasty. By offering a broad range of protein sources, you provide a complete and balanced diet containing all the necessary nutrients your pet needs.
Of course, some pets only want or are able to eat a particular flavour. That is why we have added minerals and vitamins to our Basic range, making all rolls complete so that alternating flavours is not essential. Please bear in mind, however, that feeding only one animal protein source for a long period may lead to an intolerance."
"Thaw the product in a sealed container in the refrigerator so that it does not come into contact with your own food;
Wash everything that has come into contact with the raw food thoroughly with warm water and washing-up liquid;
Preferably feed your pet in a cool room and out of direct sunlight. Discard the food if your pet has not eaten it within one hour;
Make sure flies cannot reach the thawed food. Flies can spread bacteria;
Make sure small children cannot reach the thawed food."
"BARFmenu KVV is a commercial version of the BARF diet, designed to make feeding raw food to dogs and cats easier and safer. The KVV production process has been carefully developed to ensure that the food remains fresh, nutritious and free from harmful bacteria.
How is BARFmenu made and what does the process look like?
We start by selecting producers that deliver high quality, use fresh ingredients and use meat suitable for human consumption. This includes muscle meat, organs (such as liver, kidneys and heart) and ground bones. The ingredients are then sourced locally and sustainably where possible to ensure freshness and quality. Once the meat, organs and bones meet the required quality, they are cut and then finely ground.
This helps create a uniform texture and makes the food easier for dogs and cats to eat and digest. The ground ingredients are mixed accurately to ensure a balanced nutritional composition. Strict hygiene rules are followed throughout the entire production process to prevent contamination with harmful bacteria.
This includes: cleaning and sterilising equipment and working areas; processing ingredients at low temperatures to preserve freshness and minimise bacterial growth; dividing the mixed meat into portions and packaging it in packs suitable for the weight and nutritional requirements of different pets; the packs are vacuum sealed and frozen immediately to extend shelf life and preserve nutrients.
The finished product is stored in freezer rooms until it is distributed to shops or directly to consumers; distribution takes place using frozen transport to maintain the cold chain and ensure the products arrive frozen.
Regular quality checks and laboratory tests ensure that the finished product is free from pathogens and meets safety standards; we work according to HACCP requirements (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) to ensure food safety.
By following this process, BARFmenu KVV products offer an easy and safe way to provide your dog or cat with a raw diet, without the inconvenience and risks of preparing a BARF diet yourself."
All meat used by BARFmenu comes from the EU and meets all quality requirements.
Not every pet is the same and not every pet likes the same things. Variety is important for your pet too.
You can combine BARFmenu very well with cold-pressed kibble or BARF2go.
Yes, BARFmenu contains sufficient taurine. Taurine is an essential amino acid that is particularly important for cats, but it can also be beneficial for dogs.
Blood is rich in iron and other essential minerals such as magnesium, potassium and sodium. These minerals are crucial to the health of pets, and blood in the diet can help meet their nutritional requirements. It also contributes to hydration and provides essential amino acids that play an important role in various bodily functions, including the immune system and muscle development. Blood is also a natural source of vitamins.
Bones are a natural source of calcium and phosphorus, essential minerals needed for various bodily functions such as dental health, strengthening the gums, supporting the digestive process and providing mental stimulation.
Grains and rice mainly contain carbohydrates. At BARFmenu, we believe that dogs and cats have little need for carbohydrates because their digestive systems are better adapted to processing proteins and fats. The reasoning is that the digestion and metabolism of carbohydrates are not optimal for these animals.
"Opinions on this vary greatly. We believe that vegetables add little or nothing to a dog’s diet, and a cat should certainly not be given vegetables because it is an obligate carnivore, meaning a true meat eater. If you do want to add vegetables to your pet’s diet, we recommend the following:
Carrots: rich in vitamin A and good for the teeth.
Broccoli: contains many vitamins and fibre, but should be given in moderation to prevent gas.
Spinach: rich in iron and antioxidants, although oxalates can be problematic in large quantities.
Pumpkin: can help with digestive problems such as diarrhoea and constipation.
Sweet potatoes: a good source of fibre and vitamin A.
Green beans: low in calories and a good source of vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables best avoided:
Onions and garlic: toxic to dogs and can damage red blood cells.
Avocado: contains persin, which can be toxic to dogs.
Rhubarb: contains oxalates that can cause kidney problems.
Fruit best avoided:
Grapes and raisins: highly toxic to dogs and can cause kidney failure."
For pets with pancreatitis or other pancreatic disorders, it is crucial to follow a diet that does not overload the pancreas. By providing a diet that is low in fat and rich in high-quality protein, BARFmenu Pancreas helps manage symptoms and reduce the burden on the pancreas.
BARFmenu is packaged in what we in the industry call a ‘casing’.
That is our trade secret!
You can start with cold-pressed kibble immediately.
This is stated with the product online and on the physical label.
Instead of cooking or heating the ingredients — as is often done — BARFmenu takes a different approach: we cold-press our kibble. This means the ingredients are compressed under high pressure without heating. This helps preserve the natural nutrients and enzymes in the ingredients, benefiting the nutritional value of the finished product.
We recommend alternating flavours. This helps prevent intolerances and keeps meals interesting for your pets.
"Store the cold-pressed kibble in a cool, dry place, preferably in a sealed container or bag. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and keep the product away from heat sources such as radiators and kitchen appliances. Seal the packaging after each use to prevent air, moisture or insects from entering. If the original packaging does not seal properly, consider transferring the cold-pressed kibble to a sealable storage container.
Do not buy products if the packaging is damaged or if the best-before date is close to expiring.
Prevent the cold-pressed kibble from coming into contact with moisture, as this can lead to spoilage and mould growth. If the product accidentally becomes wet, allow it to dry completely before storing it again.
Use the cold-pressed kibble within a reasonable period to maintain freshness. Do not buy large quantities that will not be consumed within a reasonable period before the best-before date. If you notice that the purchased product is discoloured, has an unpleasant smell or shows signs of spoilage, please report this directly to our customer service team."
BARFmenu cold-pressed kibble can be stored for up to 18 months after the production date. The best-before date is printed on the bag.

Yes! When a dog or cat feels well physically, they will generally show better behaviour too. A dog or cat that does not receive the right nutrition and therefore does not feel well may become more reactive over time.

When a dog or cat switches to KVV, a detoxification process may occur. This may possibly result in diarrhoea, vomiting, hair loss and itching. In the worst case, this can last for up to 2 weeks. Are you concerned? Please contact our customer service team.
A poor coat can be caused by various factors, including nutrition, grooming, health and stress. By providing the right nutrition, you promote good health, less stress and a shiny coat. The following vitamins and nutrients are important for a healthy, beautiful and glossy coat: omega 3 and 6, vitamins A, E and B7, and zinc. These vitamins and nutrients are present in our food, so no additional supplements are required.
Tartar in dogs and cats can be a serious problem that may lead to gum inflammation, infections and even tooth loss. Fortunately, this occurs rarely or not at all in dogs and cats that are fed KVV, whereas many dogs and cats that eat kibble experience these problems. In the case of tartar, we recommend offering your dog or cat a suitable bone or hard chew every 2 to 3 days so that the teeth can be cleaned naturally.
For pets with pancreatic problems, it is crucial to follow a diet that does not overload the pancreas. By providing a low-fat diet rich in high-quality protein, BARFmenu Pancreas helps manage symptoms and reduce the burden on the pancreas.
"Coprophagia — eating faeces — is a common but undesirable behaviour in dogs. Some steps you can take to address this problem are:
Provide a good diet and proper nutrition containing all necessary vitamins and minerals;
Train using commands, redirect attention and reward positive behaviour;
Try taking a different walking route than usual or visit a different, unfamiliar area."
People often assume that the dog or cat has stomach pain and eats grass to induce vomiting. Fortunately, this is usually not the case; it is often related to the moisture in the grass. Our tap water is clean, but for example contains lime. As a result, dogs and cats sometimes prefer rainwater or eat grass.
"Our (frozen) parcels are shipped through what is known as a cold chain: they never leave the frozen state. From our freezer facility to your front door, the products remain continuously frozen. This requires special packaging as well as transport in freezer vehicles. This makes shipping more expensive, but we only charge you, the customer, approximately half of these costs. We therefore encourage you to order a somewhat larger supply at once, which may qualify you for free shipping.
This means we need to ship fewer frozen parcels and you ultimately save on shipping costs.
You can find all rates on our shipping rates page."
As of 01-01-2025, all our products are subject to 21% VAT.
